This weekend was Colleen's first Mother's Day. That has to be a fairly monumental first in anybodies life. We drove 6 hours to my parents house Friday night - Colleen, Sequoia, myself, our clothes, enough camera gear to entertain a small movie studio, the astounding array of support gear that new parents believe is required to sustain life and two 60 pound Border Collies all packed into our tiny little Rav-4. It was snug, but I appreciate the fact that it encourages us to pack light.
It was a great weekend full of many firsts that I will detail tomorrow when I have caught up on some sleep. Certainly there were a few highlights that I have to mention right now though....- As I said in the intro, this was Colleen's first Mother's Day. I can't begin to explain how special that feeling was for me. I can only guess how it must have made Colleen feel.
- It was also the first time that Sequoia got to meet my parents. It was a long anticipated visit and one that did not let anyone down.
- Other firsts included meeting my sisters Peg and Trish and Sequoia's cousins Christopher, Will and Jens and uncle Jeff and aunt Gena.

Here are Colleen and Sequoia Sunday morning in their Mother's Day finest. These are two beautiful ladies, if I do say so myself. I can not get over how good they are together...it really is fun to watch.
This is my sweet little angel all dressed up for her mommy and grandmother's inspection. Notice the legs appropriately and modestly crossed. She is quite the little lady.
And here is my mom - Grandmom Leila in the comments - closely inspecting Sequoia to see if she meets her approval. I was relieved to find out that she did.Well I'm off to bed but I will write more about our weekend tomorrow. It was a series of days that I will certainly always remember.

Grandmom and Grandad certainly did enjoy meeting our most lovely grandbaby this past weekend! Woo-Hoo, what a long anticipated and absotluly wonderful time we all had, passing little Sequoia around and around. She's unbelievably sweet and such a GOOD baby.
