Gone to horse town....

Sequoia and Colleen got to join me on a business trip to Louisville, Kentucky last month. These pictures are actually in reverse order starting with playground that we stopped at along the New River Gorge in west Virginia on the way home.
Sequoia and I actually drove the 12 hours out to Louisville together (in one day, leaving at 3am) and Colleen flew in from Colorado where she had been for her sister Kathleen's wedding.
Sequoia loved the pool at the hotel we stayed at on the drive home.
Sequoia is a little fish when it comes to the water. She can't swim, but loves being in the water and shows no fear.

Here is a self portrait of the family at an overlook of the New River Gorge.
Louisville obviously has a big horse tradition and there were horses everywhere we turned. Some real, some less than real. Here we are showing off the miniature bats we received as part of our Louisville Slugger Bat Factory Tour.
Here are Colleen and Sequoia posing in front of the worlds largest bat.
We drove out to Lexington to check out the World Equestrian Games. This is a huge multi-week competition that brings the top riders from all over the world. It is the first time that it has ever been held in the United States.
It was held at the Kentucky Horse Park (I think) which is the home of several famous Triple Crown/ Derby horses including Cigar and The Hoss. Sequoia got to ride a lesser known horse called a pony.
She also rode several magnificent statues of the famous Kentucky Derby winners such as Secretariat.
One of teh days while I was working Sequoia and Colleen went to Churchill Downs, the home of the Kentucky Derby.
Sequoia enjoyed riding a horse in this video game. She even won once with mommy"s help.
Here she gives one of her fellow jockeys a high five.
Sequoia and Colleen also went to the Louisville Science Center to see an Elmo exhibit.

I love these two shots of Sequoia dancing in front of our hotel.
She certainly has her share of personality.

Grandmom says --- I've been waiting to see these photos... such fun your little family has had this last month..unusual "vacation" in KY and then the wedding on the beach. Wasn't our lil gal cute and beautiful in her two special dresses? Gorgeous, to say the least.
