Easter fun part 3....

So, we finally wrapped up Easter on Easter Monday with the postponed community Easter Egg Hunt. By the way, this is Sequoia's new wagon. We gave it to her for her birthday. It was really more for us to make it easier to haul her to the beach and playground and take evening walks around the neighborhood.
Both Colleen and I were able to join Sequoia's class for the occasion and we all had a ball.
It is a real treat for us to get to see Sequoia interact with her classmates as normally we miss that fun while we are at work.
Again, Sequoia took the slow and methodical approach, in no particular hurry to gather too many eggs. She got exactly how many she wanted and that was enough.
She opted to use a plastic bag to be like her friends, even though she had brought her real Easter Basket with her....peer pressure looming its head early.

I love watching Sequoia and Colleen together....they are so very much two peas in a pod.
Or is it two nuts in a shell...? Either way, I absolutely adore them both.

Water hazard....

I will let these pictures tell there own story. It was one of the first warm days of spring and watering the plants turned into a hilarious game of soaking each other with the hose.

These are the times that make all of those other times (poopy diapers, learning the word NO,etc.) worth while...

Easter fun...part 2 1/2...

The Saturday of Easter weekend started out with some rain and a questionable forecast, causing our neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt to be canceled at the last minute.
By the time they canceled it though, Sequoia was already dressed up and amped up for an Easter Egg Hunt....so we had to figure out a quick plan B.
Luckily Colleen was able to find another local Easter Egg hunt that was starting at the same time, and was only 3 miles away ... so off we went, arriving just in time to meet the Easter Bunny (a huge hit with Sequoia) and participate in the hunt.
Sequoia gathered exactly how many eggs she wanted and told me she was finished long before the other kids had stopped gathering up the goodies. I was puzzled at first, but puzzlement turned into a sort of pride when I found out her plan.
Her intention was to find the Easter Bunny and give him an egg...which she did. It was very cute and she was very proud of herself.
After the egg hunt we went home and posed in front of the pretty azaleas at our house.
Posing in front of Easter azaleas is probably a pretty common tradition around here.
But I doubt anyone has ever been cuter at it than our little girl.

Eggstrordinary fun....

The Saturday of Easter weekend was time for Sequoia to learn how to dye an Easter Egg.
She was a magician with the colors...mixing and matching like crazy.
She made a surprisingly small mess...thanks mostly to mommy's diligence.

Easter Fun...part one...

So the Easter Season was upon us, and this year there would be no shortage of Easter Egg hunting.
The season started off with an Easter Egg hunt at Miss Debbie's school.
Sequoia and all of her school friends were treated to a fun egg hunt and party that mommy was able to attend.
In this shot you get to see Sequoia's wonderful play set complete with rock wall in the background. That's right, she is lucky enough to go to school next door to her own house. Very convenient!

Here she is with Adrianna ... her best friend at school.
Oh what fun it is to have another reason to party at school...

It is a very nice group of kids at her school and we feel she is very fortunate to be a part of the class.
Now that is a beautiful cupcake!

High flying fun...

A wonderful new addition to the yard is our new - used - hand me down swing set. This massive playground assembly was built by my brother Mark about 10 years ago for Sequoia's cousins Christopher and Will. It appears that the boys have finally outgrown it, so Sequoia lucked out in a big way.
Again the pictures are not great, but I think you get the picture about how much she loves her swing set.
She absolutely loves play grounds in general and is incredibly fortunate that in our little neighborhood she has no fewer than 4 different play sets to choose from.
She considers all playgrounds her playgrounds ... but this one actually really is all hers.
Everyone in my family has tons of vivid memories of Chris and Will playing on this set at their two houses prior to it being relocated across the Bay to our house.
It was extremely nice and generous of them to agree to allow Sequoia to take ownership of something that had played such a big part of their childhoods.
I think she will be a great steward of this personal playground as she trains for the 2024 Olympics.
