Last year Sequoia just missed being our Easter baby and at the time I remember saying that I was looking forward to the fact that she would be a toddler by her first Easter since she would actually be able to enjoy it.

Well we sort of got a jump on Easter yesterday at the Peninsula Mommies Spring Fling where Sequoia got to participate in her first Easter Egg hunt. Colleen is on the Events Committee and helped to organize and run the event, so she was there pretty much all day. Sequoia and I showed up a bit later - timing our arrival for the big egg hunt.

She showed up with all of the requisite equipment - cute outfit, basket and smile.

With a little guidance from her parents, and the benefit of an extremely small area to search and the fact that the eggs were not actually hidden, Sequoia quickly loaded her basket up with her allotment of six eggs.

She was quite proud of her basket and spent a bit of time showing it off along with her new ability to stand up on her own from a sitting position with out any assistance.

Although she CAN walk, she has not bothered to actually try walking on her own. She walks when we are sort of making her do it - you know, passing her between us - but I have yet to see her make the decision on her own.

But the art of freestanding is something she embraces and is beginning to master.

She was noticeably more active with her standing skills yesterday and walked with my finger all over the place. I seriously think she put in over a mile on her feet yesterday.

I introduced her to the Easter tradition of picking clover bunnies.

Not surprisingly she was quite good at it.

I am a pretty good teacher after all.

After all of the fun at the Spring Fling, I loaded up my little girl and drove back up to Gloucester and Elayne's incredible birthday party at Beaver Dam Park. It was a great time. I really enjoyed seeing all of the extended family that gathered from both sides of their family ... and more than that, I REALLY loved the Korean BBQ and the Kimchi. That was good stuff. Sequoia would agree about the BBQ, although she did not get to taste the Kimchi.

Sequoia also enjoyed adding another balloon to her collection that now numbers two. That is a pretty good collection for a little one year old.
