Lazy rainy Saturday with our little girl ....

This is our third Saturday home together as a family and we are starting to settle in to a nice routine...especially on the rainy Saturdays like today. The morning starts sometime around 6 am for Sequoia's first feeding of the morning. That's when the process of waking up begins ... slowly.
The dog's head outside to take care of business and Sequoia moves into our room to feed. Once she is done she sleeps in her bouncer, or on Colleen or I until the next feeding at 8. Usually during that intermission I get my shower and bring the dogs back inside and wait for the second part of Sequoia's breakfast to end around 8:30. That's when Sequoia and I move out to the kitchen to cook up a batch of banana pancakes ala Jack Johnson. This allows Colleen to get her shower, or a few more minutes rest depending on how the night was.

We then enjoy a leisurely and relaxed breakfast...well at least until Sequoia is ready for part three of her breakfast. If things go well we actually get to finish our entire meal.
Then we can get down to the serious business of napping on the couch while hugging daddy's face.

Well like I said, today was a lazy and rainy Saturday, so there was plenty of time to practice our snoozing. I did manage to run a few errands, leaving Colleen and Sequoia to entertain themselves for awhile ... that may have been a mistake.

By the time I got home Sequoia was finishing her first professional photo shoot and Colleen had run through our supply of camera batteries. She was working hard to get together a good selection of shots for our birth announcements, so this was not just for fun ... but I suspect it didn't matter. They both seemed to enjoy themselves anyway.

Later while I was just relaxing on the couch with Sequoia sleeping on my arm, her tiny head snuggled in the palm of my hand, I was startled to find myself roped in to the middle of the photo shoot - part two.

I'm really glad that Colleen got these pictures, because it is hard to imagine how very small our little girl is sometimes because she manages to fill our every thought and dream. These pictures do a great job of reminding me just how very small the finger is that has managed to wrap Colleen and I around it.

And I just have to include this picture of Colleen 18 days after giving birth to Sequoia. She is back to wearing her pre-pregnancy clothes (other than when the scar causes her discomfort). I think that is absolutely amazing and a testament to how active and healthy Colleen managed to stay while providing room and board for our little girl. I know that it was not always easy, and I am very proud of her.
It is nice to know that we will be able to get back to our normal active life of running around and exploring the mountains and beaches that we manage to stumble upon as we find our way through this world.
We can't wait to discover these things through our daughter's eyes.
