This past Saturday marked a fairly big milestone in Sequoia and Daddy's relationship...we had to survive an entire day with out mommy and her magical feeding stations. Colleen went down to Virginia Beach to have lunch with some of her friends and attend an afternoon baby shower for Andrea Hoffman and her soon to be born daughter, Ava Namiko Hoffman. I may have the spelling of the middle name wrong, but I am close. I believe it is Japanese for Waves and I think it is absolutely beautiful. That will give Sequoia a pair of Avas to play with this summer. The prospect of being alone with Sequoia was not too intimidating since she is really quite a good little girl. The only real unknown was whether or not she would bottle feed for me since she is very new to taking the bottle and had been pretty hit or miss with the experience. Well luckily for both of us she did great and polished off everything I offered her. We had a great day just hanging around the house, watching baseball, walking in the woods and watching the Kentucky Derby. It feels great to know that Colleen can get away from things at the house once in awhile and have some private time as "just Colleen" as opposed to always being "mommy". It was also a good eye opener for me to see just how much of a non-stop commitment watching Sequoia is. I can certainly understand why Colleen is so tired every night when I get home from "work".
