Six weeks of charm school training...

Sequoia is 6 weeks old now and her personality is growing and developing in pace with her physical maturation. I know it is mind numbing to read about someone else's baby and the minutia of little details we tend to babble on about. I mean honestly, who cares that Sequoia is starting to smile more or that she is becoming very aware of what Colleen and I are doing, even when we are across the room or out of her line of vision - she has started to look for where she thinks we might be - that seems like a big step
to me, or that her vocalizations are developing into discernible, although not interpretable patterns? Well I care and this is really my blog where I get to stand on my little soap box and tell anyone foolish enough to log on what an amazing little person Colleen and I managed to create.
So, like I was saying, Sequoia is really growing up and surprising us on a daily basis with the little changes we see. A few things that she does now that she wasn't doing (as well) 2 or 3 weeks ago
- She smiles a lot more now, not on cue, but natural smiles on her own schedule.
- She holds her head up unassisted and looks around when you hold her
- She has come very close to rolling over a number of times and is generally getting more control of her body.
- Her eye sight and recognition is remarkably better. She will lock on to you from across the room and follow you with her eyes now.
- She has a new range of vocalizations...very comparable to Rogue's vocabulary of whines, grunts and half howls...perhaps they understand each other?
- She bottle feeds when necessary. That is a huge step.
Anyway, pretty much every day is witness to a new twist on an old trick. Things that you wouldn't think needed to be learned are learned - like smiling. It is definitely a fun experience watching Sequoia figure it all out.

This outfit was a gift from our friend Kara Waters.
